Folk art painting, “Winter on the Farm”, o/c, unsigned. The painting includes a farm house with a gambrel roof, a barn, a horse-drawn sleigh and various farm animals. It is in very good condition. 

The painting is after F.F. Palmer, (1812-1876), an English artist who became successful in the United States as a lithographer for Currier and Ives. Between 1849–1868, she is credited with producing around two hundred lithographs.

Eight-Inch Onion Bottle

Early onion bottle, 8” high. Onion bottles were used in the 17th and 18th centuries, mainly to hold wine.  They achieved their dark green or brown colors from iron oxide found within the sand used to make them. The color was further darkened by the coal used to heat the furnaces, leaving the bottles almost black. Collars were applied to the top so that corks could be tied down. Very good condition. 18th century.

Pair of Large Chinese Export Chargers

A pair of large Chinese Export chargers. The chargers are 18½” in diameter and  have matching blue and white decorations. They are in fair condition, with a chip and a repaired crack on one and a putty-filled chip on the other. Despite these defects, the chargers make impressive display pieces, which is how we enjoyed them for many years in our own collection. 18th or 19th century.
