Rare cast iron figural hitching post cap, 12½” high. Designed to fit on a post, this unusual post cap depicts a standing figure with riding hat and jacket, and posed with outstretched arms holding a bar to which the reins of a horse would be attached. The post cap is in very good condition, with a normal weathered surface and traces of original paint. Early 19th century, eastern Pennsylvania.
