Shoe-Footed Chair Table

160213C

Early shoe-footed chair table. The table sports a two-board scrubbed top, a base in old red paint with a lift-lid opening onto a storage well, and shoe feet decorated with early chip carving. (The feet have had slippers added to increase the table height, a common practice as generations of people grew taller.) This table was descended in the Van Der Bogert family of Woodstock, Ulster County, NY. It is in very good condition, displaying only the wear and tear associated with age and usage. The table was part of our collection for many years. 18th century, Hudson Valley, NY.

Dimensions: 51” x 50” top x 27¾” high.
