Portrait of a physician, o/c, unsigned. The physician is pictured wearing a suit coat, a dark vest and a white shirt, holding a book on his lap. He is seated at a table in front of shelves full of his medical books and flanked by a draped curtain. A scroll on his desk identifies him as “Cyrus Damsell, MD”. The portrait is in very good condition, with some craquelure and surface wear. There is no sign of in-painting when viewed under black light. 19th century, American School.
