Highly unusual nineteenth century tin squirrel cage mounted on a wooden base, with punch decorations in the tin to make it resemble a house. The "house" has a hinged front door, double windows on each side, and a chimney with rolled ends. The cage retains some of its original salmon paint. A wonderful example of utilitarian folk art.
