A group of three early glass jars. Two of the jars have tin covers while the third, perhaps the most unusual, is a canning jar with a novel sealing mechanism. This mechanism, working by means of a screw device, draws the cover and the jar lip closer together until the jar is sealed. The lid is embossed, "Whiteall's Patent June 18, 1861". The jar itself is embossed "Moore's Patent Dec 3, 1861".
