One pint stoneware jug, 7.25" high, with rare cinnamon glaze.
The jug is decorated in raised cobalt blue with "H. J. Pelkey, Gloversville, NY". It is in very good condition, with the only defect of note being a very small chip on the top rim.
Herbert J. Pelkey was the owner of a saloon in Gloversville. The jug was most likely made by E.W. Farrington of Elmira, New York. In 1881 E. Ward Farrington entered the pottery business, labeling pieces under his partners name, J. B. Farrington and Co. Upon James Farrington's death in 1887, E. Ward Farrington ran the pottery business until circa 1895.
