Oval folk art tavern sign, wood. The sign reads, “R. Dickson, 1836” in black paint on a white background, and is decorated with a leafy design. Evidently, this sign was recycled from an earlier time, given the faint outline of another sign underneath. In addition, the reverse side is painted with “F.G. Skinner, Wagon Painter”, along with crossed paint brushes. The paint on this side is heavily weathered. Also, there is some damage to the molding surrounding the sign.
