Copper “Hand of God” weathervane, 40½” long, excellent patina, excellent condition. Cut and stamped into the tube is “Cushing Original 12(?) of 100”.
This weathervane was made in a limited edition in 1955, using the original L.W. Cushing mold. The work was done for Edith Halpert, owner of the Downtown Gallery in New York City, who had previously purchased Cushing’s original molds from a Chelsea, MA dealer. An identical weathervane from the same limited edition is in the collection of the Brooklyn Museum.
