An outstanding Chippendale high chest, walnut with maple and tiger maple inlay. The chest sports graduated drawers with thumbnail molding, reeded pilasters, an attractive bracket base and original brasses. The small top left- and right-hand drawers have hidden wooden locks accessed from the drawer below. The chest exhibits beautiful graining, exceptional inlay on the cornice and elsewhere and a very attractive patina. It is in excellent condition, marred only by some minor damage to the rear of the cornice. Circa 1770-1780, Mid-Atlantic states.
